Entering fresh into 2013, Rejected’s first release is from highly respected DJ and producer Ross Evans aka Ross Evana. No stranger to the scene with his diverse selection of back catalogue releases on highly acclaimed labels, Ross’ consistent and versatile ability at providing solid funky 4×4 grooves shows us yet again he’s on top form with the heavy 2 track EP “Tamarind” which serves as his debut for the label.

From the off we see A side “Tamarind” deliver a powerfully patterned loop built from refined percussion, giving the track a firmly grounded groove throughout. Evans works this with a stuttered synth and a light sample of reverbed vocals, all neatly polished and built up to a sleek & subtle drop making Tamarind a functional addition in any collection.

B Sides “Off The Chain” sees Ross concentrate more on synth and bass as a main attraction to the rhythm whilst cleverly adding foreign percussive elements against obscure steamy vocal samples. Evans use of unique and experimental sounds gives “Off The Chain” a curious edge yet keeping it sleek and groovy throughout.

After the release of the mega sultry remix of “Lets Go Juno” with Fellow District One Partner Bart Skills, it’s no surprise Rejected had to have Dutchman Anton Pieete back for REJ026. Pieete certainly shows his consistency at producing driving patterns and original grooves and “It’s A Plucker” EP is no exception.

Straight from the cue “It’s A Plucker” has a clean and crispy percussive loop that’s perfectly patterned, flowing throughout this highly addictive percussive ride. Combined with the balance of a nitty-gritty jazzinfused hook and a trademark deep and dubby bass.

Over on the B side “Ambidancer” drives in full power into a bouncy, groove-ridden bassline. Pieete seamlessly introduces an eerie sounding synth combined with siren elements that work effortlessly together, giving the track a mysterious touch. Perfect for those late night dark dance floors.

Following off from Rejected’s successful summer they have hooked yet again some fresh new talent, Dutch DJ & Producer Mulder who steps up to take his place on the labels stellar stand of releases.

Hitting off with the A Side we have Rejected’s Head Honcho Voorn stamping his style on the muscular dance floor groover “Natural high”. Accompanying the punchy kick and groovy bass we have a driving melodic rhythmic lead, which will tear down a treat for any dance floor! With its underlying percussive ride and trademark groove it has all the ingredients for a 4×4 floor filler classic.

Meanwhile on side B of the EP we have “Varta”, with its rolling warm bass partnered with a canorous layout of percussion it’sguaranteed a jive. From start to finish this gem has a progressive edge that builds throughout, which makes it a versatile musical tool for any party, at any time! Ooooo yeah.

Its a busy time for Steve Rachmad. Having recently released the “Magnetic Reversal” double 12” under his Parallel 9 alias and currently celebrating the re-release and remixed version of his 1995 classic, “The Secret Life Of Machines”, the Dutch techno hero now turns his attention to his debut for Joris Voorn & Edwin Oosterwal’s, Rejected imprint. A dream hook up from the orange nation that sees Steve present two hot exclusive slices of tech house.

A side “Bling It Up” finds Steve in full melodic fettle. Warm bass, crisp percussion and a smooth as silk synth melody create a perfect terrace anthem or early mailroom party starter. Rachmad’s softer side takes a back seat on the flip as his techno sensibilities come to fore on the rough and ready, “Data Overload”. Its earth-moving kick drum paves the way for its twisted razor-edged bassline, while its staccato siren melody spritely prances throughout. Hold on to your mainframe, because this Data Overload is set to crash all in its path…

Not without good reason is the motto of this year’s Cocoon Ibiza season “Into the Magic”, as the sun-drenched Balearic island is steeped in a special enchantment. So, with great enthusiasm, the team around Sven Vath apply themselves to the 13th season in Ibiza, and you don’t have to be a prophet to predict some historic club nights at the Amnesia. Also the acoustic ‘warm up’ in the form of the Cocoon Ibiza Summer Mix CD, established in 2007, makes your eyes glow intensely with excitement this year, as Cocoon was able to get Cassy and Joris Voorn doing the mix, two absolute DJ highlights in this season.

An open artistic approach is what the Rotterdam-born DJ and producer Joris Voorn shows on the release. Since the beginning of the 2000s, Voorn stands for an inspiring alliance between European club traditions and the aesthetics of Detroit Techno, and thus won the hearts of Technasia, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath. At least since his 2010 club anthem “The Secret”, Voorn is an essential part of the musical memory of Ibiza. His set elaborately intertwines a total of 30 (!) tracks by, among others, such well-known producers/remixers like Oxia, John Tejada, Guy Gerber, Samuel L. Session or Radio Slave in his own inimitable way to an artistic Gesamtkunstwerk which illustrates the aesthetic bandwidth and deepness of modern electronic dance music in a superb way. Constantly altering the tension, Voorn draws the line from Lawrence’s melancholy and emotional sound sketches (“The Swan”) or Matthew Dekay & Lee Burridge’s “Fur die Liebe” via the sensual-percussive Dub House of Microtrauma’s “Pollenflug” and the groove-accented “Acid Jam” by Rhauder from Berlin right up to the grand final with a tropically-dense cover version of the Derrick May classic “Strings Of Life” by the British producer Astro Fram aka Soul Mekanik, who has also worked with Robbie Williams. There is no better way to pay homage to the Balearic island’s magic.

Nic Fanciulli’s first appearance on Rejected came back in 2009, when he took over “Room 3″ of the labels famous Dusty House. This was followed by last years “Together”, his co-production with label boss Joris Voorn and today he returns to Dutch shores again with his latest brace, “Movin’ On” and “Round & Round.”

With “Movin’ On” featuring in his brand new and ready to roll ‘Balance’ compilation, our timing couldn’t be better. Perfect for the summer floors, it rolls heavy with Fanciulli’s trademark drive and funk. Breaking out the harmonica and letting the divas holla, he drops the bass in the synth-lead breaks before slamming it back for, dare we say it, those real hands in the air moments. The terraces eagerly await.

Pulling no punches on the flip, we have “Round & Round.” In typical heads down fashion and with a dizzying display of hats and snare, Nic turns in a floor burning tool that could easily demand its very own room in Rejected’s dusty abode. Two strong cuts from one of the most consistent producers of today.

If you’ve been to a Rejected event within the last year, chances are you will have heard either label master Joris Voorn or commander in chief Edwin Oosterwal mixing in Poze’s uplifting remix of Ruben de Ronde’s ‘Stoer’. It has been their secret weapon for some time now, always provoking an immediate reaction from the crowd who sink into its deep, relaxing rhythm and swirling grooves.

Stepping up the pace is German DJ and producer duo Kruse & Nuernberg who add their own interpretation of the track. With their straightforward and modern approach to creating house music, we can trust them to bring the party vibe to everything they touch. Their deep and percussive remix breathes a piece of summer into the motion with lush tones and crisp breaks. Finishing off with a dub version, the guys strip things down for one final, ass-shaking strut.. ooo yeah!

Ahhh we remember it well… The summer of 2009. Each and every year theres one record thats universally tagged as the ‘Soundtrack of the Summer’. These, more often than not, party anthems have their seed steadily sown. From the producer to his close group of friends. A fizz of excitement. Then the lucky ‘Tastemakers,’ who play it each and every set. The buzz grows as the track soon takes hold of every dancefloor in every party destination. Whilst the timescale of this exciting air of mystery and suspense has shortened over the years, each year there will always be that one track that defines the summer party season. Some seasons debate may rage over the awarding of the title, but in 2009 there was never any question…

That summer saw the first release from Rejected’s ‘Dusty House’ series as label chief Joris Voorn dropped ‘Room 1′, a two tracker that was set to not only become the biggest club release of the year, but one that also instigated a filtered house revival. Whilst ‘Empty Trash” occupied the unenviable B Side and garnered great support, it was the lead cut “Sweep The Floor” that really stole the show and set the scene alight. The cheeky filtered stabbing number with its huge party-starting drops became the DJ’s ‘go to’ record and even found itself soundtracking feature trailers on BBC Radio 1.

With other artists commandeering the rooms of Rejected’s Dusty House, including fellow label owner Edwin Oosterwal, its been a while since the label boss Voorn has been in residence. Now he’s back and ready to drop his next brace of hits. “Spank The Maid” finds the Dutchman in a mischievous mood as he builds and drops with an organ riff and cut up vocal. On the flip Joris brings the 80′s hollywood synths and rattling snares to create yet another essential club cut.
